The Beginning
The Rural Lorain County Democratic Precinct Association, the Rural Dems, was started by Dara Adkison during the 2020-2021 election cycle to help Rural Democrats get a seat at the table with countywide organizers and provide an opportunity for community with like minded neighbors. The goals of the RLCDPA are:
We want people to feel supported in their political views as Democrats in Lorain county.
We will provide volunteer opportunities, including community activities and fundraising for both our organization and the candidates that Democrats support.
We will spread awareness about Ohio Democrats and issues facing Ohioans with regular meetings, community involvement and a social media presence.

Neighborhoods - Members knocked on more than 559 doors in Lorain County townships during September, October & November 2023.
In the community - Members were present daily at the Amherst and Elyria BMV’s to hand out literature.
Get signatures - Members were integral to the signature collection effort for issue 1 in 2023
Fund Raising
The annual collection for the Chronicle Telegram’s NOT FORGOTTEN BOX toy delivery was made on December 13th. More than 155 items were donated.

Candidates speak to our members directly every meeting, and you can be at the table! Meet like minded individuals and share your feedback about the irons we have in the fire.

Postcards - Members wrote 3,700 postcards in 2023
Letters - Many published in the newspaper & one resulted in full coverage of Issue 20 on WKSU
Community Activities
Wreaths were delivered on December 16th to the Columbia Township Cemetery for the Wreaths Across America Ceremony remembering those who served.re
